Following a major fire in 2016, La Celeste
has been rebuilt and modernised throughout to provide a contemporary 5 bedroom,
light and spacious comfortable living space for families and friends, whist
retaining the character and beautiful rural setting of the original vineyard
manager’s cottage.
The private swimming pool (8m x 5m) is
located at the rear of the property, with pool loungers, seating, BBQ and a
relaxing alfresco dining area. The property has ample parking and surrounding
patios and gardens. The Villa is situated in
the village of
Marseillette, which has a
cafe,
post office, hotel & restaurant. As you can imagine in this part of France
eating and relaxing is done in the shade of trees or umbrellas, and this
property with its large patios and terraces is ideal for this.
There are weekly markets
in the villages around Marseillette. A very short walk from the house is the
UNESCO protected Canal du Midi, with its many locks and miles of towpaths to
wander, under the shade of the plane trees which line its banks. Local
activities include riding stables, tennis courts and hiking or cycling routes.
Lakes Jouarre and Cavayère have supervised swimming and hire of sailboards and
kayaks.
The medieval city of
Carcassonne is about fifteen minutes by car, offering shops, restaurants, a golf
course and an abundance of entertainment. Not forgetting, most famously the
medieval walled city and Cathare Châteaux.
The Mediterranean beaches
of Gruissan, Leucates and Narbonne are about forty minutes by car and just over an
hour to Perpignan and the Spanish border. The nearest ski resorts are
approximately an hour and a half to Andorra and the Pyrenees mountains. The
surrounding area is a varied and beautiful place to visit with its many
mountains, valleys, gorges, lakes and historical villages.
